Docs: Activity

Activity

The log of every change Redrive has made to your brokers, and who made it.

Activity is part of Pro. It lists what Redrive has done, newest first: every redrive, discard, purge, publish and topology change, and on Team, sign-ins and admin changes too. Peeks, scans, browsing and saving messages are never logged.

Redrive writes the log on every tier, Free included, so after an upgrade you see the history from before it.

What’s logged

Category Actions
Broker Redrive, discard, purge, delete queue, create queue, publish (raw and MassTransit), create exchange, delete exchange, bind, unbind
Sign-ins Sign-in, failed sign-in (with the username tried and the address), sign-out, password change
Admin Users added, edited, deleted or reset; brokers added, edited or deleted; feeds and packages; license activation and deactivation; the retention setting

Each entry records the time in UTC, who did it (with sign-in on), the action, the queue or exchange it acted on, and the broker. Redrive keeps the name of a broker you’ve since removed, shown in italics.

A redrive or discard entry records how many messages it moved, any it couldn’t find, what stopped the run, whether a message was edited, and the names of the fault headers it stripped. It never records message bodies, header values or tokens.

Read the log

The table groups entries under day headings and polls every five seconds. The Action column carries the count for redrives, discards and purges (“Redrive 45”), and a Stopped or Rejected tag when something went wrong. Click a row to open its details in a side pane, with links to the queue or exchange while the broker still exists.

Pro and Team

Feature Pro Team
Broker actions Last 30 days All
Sign-ins and admin actions Not shown Shown
Who did it Not shown Shown with sign-in on
Time range, category, action, broker and name filters Not available Available
Retention setting Not available Available

On Pro, the page carries a Last 30 days tag. On Team, the filters are part of the URL, so you can share a filtered view. The Who filter only appears with sign-in on, since nothing records a name without it.

Retention

Team admins set how long the log is kept in Settings, in the Activity panel: 30 days, 90 days, 1 year or Forever. Forever is the default. Changing it prunes older entries straight away, and Redrive prunes again at every startup and once a day. Without a Team license, nothing is pruned.

Who can read it

Without sign-in, everyone can. With sign-in on, operators and admins can; viewers don’t see Activity at all. Roles are covered in Users & sign-in.
